Project Description

The Götterdämmerung was designed in anger – when MakerBot decided to turn it’s back on the open source community and go closed source. I decided to design a printer that was bigger and better than their “flagship” printer at the time, the Z18 – and then just give away the design. You can find all necessary model files and build instructions on GitHub.

The designs scales. You can build it as tall, as wide or as deep as you wish – without any modifications to any of the printed parts. It can print everything from PLA to nylon. It sports a massive build volume. I printed the CityBeest robot on this printer. It has become my workhorse for all my projects that require 3D printed parts.

It has an E3D extruder with a volcano hotend that supports 0.6-1,2mm nozzle sizes. The extruder is fed by a 1.4A Nema 17 with a 1:5 planetary gearbox. The XY assembly moves on linear rails in the latest version. everything is controlled by a Rumba board with Marlin firmware. The steppers run at 24V.

Nailed it !

Götterdämmerung II – Zooming in

By |May 13th, 2015|Categories: 3D Printing, Götterdämmerung|
